The Scottish weather is somewhat of an unpredictable beast. Earlier this year, we had our “taps aff” in February for a while, before burrowing back into our warm winter clothing during the snow spells in March. If there’s one thing you can guarantee about our weather, is that it does whatever it wants, whenever it wants.
And so as summer gets into swing and we start to dream about long, hot dry days and nights, we also have to be realistic and plan for long, hot wet days too.
That’s where we can help. What with this not being our first rodeo, we’ve got a great selection of waterproof clothing and accessories to suit your workplace needs, even if it hails this month!
Sometimes you just need to have a backup umbrella kicking about in your van. Nothing fancy, just durable and reliable. We suggest this pro golf umbrella from Quadra. It has an anti-lightning fibreglass frame, which is also windproof. This should keep you dry in the blowiest of wet conditions.
If you are looking for jackets that will keep you dry and safe, how about something like this hi-vis softshell jacket from YOKO? Available in four colours, it has an upper, middle and lower layer which all work together to keep you warm and dry during those showers. It has rubber cuff adjusters as well as a draw-cord hem adjuster so that you can make sure you are as watertight as possible.
You also don’t want to get caught out during a summer storm in just your flip-flops. Wet weather can make conditions hazardous and slippery, so perhaps consider these Portwest Tractionlite boots which offer superior slip resistance thanks to specially designed PU/rubber outsoles. With water resistant leather and a waterproof membrane, it will keep your feet warm and dry in even the strongest of downpours.
And let’s not forget about your legs. Whilst it might be nice to stroll around in shorts (perhaps in these Portwest hi vis shorts) they won’t thank you for getting drenched. Keeping a pair of hi-visibility waterproof contractor trousers handy is a great idea, as they are easy to pull on and off when the weather calls for it.
This pair from YOKO are made of waterproof polyester with Oxford PU coating. They conform to European Standard EN343, which outlines a minimum level of protection against wet weather. These are trousers you can rely upon in a storm, and you can rely upon PPE Industrial Supplies to get you the best workwear, whatever the weather.
